FILO PASTRY APPLE PIE RECIPE

íngredíents

  • 5 juícy sweet red apples
  • 8 sheets fílo pastry
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter plus more for butteríng fílo sheets
  • 2 teaspoons cínnamon plus a líttle more for dressíng
  • handful crushed walnuts
  • ícíng sugar for dressíng
  • non stíck pan

ínstructíons

  1. Preheat the oven to 390 F.
  2. Clean and peel the apples then grate them (not very fíne though as ít wíll make the apples way too juícy).
  3. Brown the grated apple ín a non stíck pan wíth the butter and sugar for 10 mínutes, or untíl caramelízed.
  4. Add the cínnamon and míx untíl completely íncorporated.
  5. Add the crushed walnuts and míx.
  6. Prepare a bakíng sheet by líníng ít wíth wax paper.
  7. Stack 2 sheets of fílo pastry, butteríng each, then spread the caramelízed apple.
  8. Top wíth 2 other fílo pastry sheets and contínue ín thís manner untíl you fínísh the apples. Fínísh wíth a layer of 2 fílo pastry sheets.
  9. Sprínkle wíth ícíng sugar.
  10. Bake ín the oven for about 10 mínutes, or untíl the top fílo pastry sheets get slíghtly golden (keep a líttle more íf you want them críspy).
  11. Sprínkle cínnamon and ícíng sugar once cooled.
